株式会社ねこじゃらしはMac向けのオンラインストレージサービス「MacServer」を中心にMacユーザー向けのサービスを提供する企業だ。
Nekojarashi Inc. is an enterprise that provides the online file storage service ”MacServer” for Mac users. Comparing to the other services, this service contains more functions for creators /business persons who use Mac.
オンラインストレージを利用し、ウェブ上にある自分のためのフォルダにファイルを保存することでUSBメモリやメールでデータを転送することなく、複数の PCでファイルの編集が出来る。また、データバックアップ用にもオンラインストレージは役立つ。自分のPCが壊れたときでもデータはオンラインに保存され ているので、別のPCから容易にそのデータを開くことが出来、便利だ。その便利さゆえにユーザー、サービス提供者ともに増えたが、使いやすさやセキュリ ティ、スピードなどユーザーを完全に満足させるものは少なかった。特にオンラインストレージのヘビーユーザーには映像や音楽などを制作するクリエイターが 多いが、彼らが使用するのは主にMac。オンラインストレージサービスはWindows向けのものが多く、Mac向けのオンラインストレージサービスに は、ユーザーの高度なニーズに応えられるものが無かった。
The file can be edited on other PC without transmitting data to USB thumb drive or attaching to emails just by using the online storage. Moreover, the online storage is useful also for the data backup, because the data is preserved in online, so even when PC suddenly breaks down, the data can be easily opened from another PC. Although the number of the users and service providers had increased, only few users were satisfied with its security and speed, etc. Especially, the creators who produce the image and music, etc., their PCs are mainly Mac. Other online storage services are usually for Windows, and ones for Mac never fulfill the heavy user’s requirements.
その問題を解決すべく「Mac Server」を事業化したのが、株式会社ねこじゃらしだ。同社代表の川村氏は自身もクリエイターだった経験を生かし、「Mac向け」にクリエイターが現 場で使いやすいサービスを提供している。同社のサービスで特徴的な点の1つが「Finderによる接続」だ(「Finder」はWindowsにおける 「フォルダ」)。オンラインに保存したいデータをFinderにドラッグ＆ドロップで保存完了となる。そのため外付けハードディスクと全く同じ感覚でデー タの保存、編集が可能だ。
